Aqua Data Studio released

A week ago, AquaFold, Inc released Aqua Data Studio.
Aqua Data Studio provides an integrated database environment with a single consistent inferface to all major relational databases. This allows the DBA or developer to tackle multiple tasks simultaneously from one application. Aqua Data Studio's sophisticated Query Analyzer allows users to work on database scripts with specific RDBMS syntax highlighting and auto-completion to develop and test scripts, including detailed client statistical information and multi-grid results. Its graphical browsing capabilities allow you to understand the structure and dependencies of the database schema at a click of a mouse. It also includes the ability to save your query results in many formats including HTML and XML.

I've tested it today with MySQL and Oracle 8i. Since it's bundled with the JDBC drivers for both, no setup was required. The connexion works like a charm, and everyhting work as advertised. The memory consumption is a bit high to my taste, but nothing unbearable if you intend to do some serious work.

The tool is robust, and much faster and practical for this use (browsing and scripting) than Druid, which has a different goal.

I've lost my previous post on it, because while quitting Aqua Data Studio, my PC froze. I suspect this comes from the Java 1.4.1 VM or classes, some bugs have been reported against DirectDraw. It's ironic that the most unsafe program on my machine is a Java one :-)
